In the Weapon X Program’s pursuit to create the perfect weapon, they captured the mutant known as Wolverine. Their extraordinary efforts succeeded, but Wolverine soon turned on his creators and escaped. But a piece of him remained. A shadowy organization called the Facility stole the DNA sample and hired genetic pioneer Dr. Sarah Kinney to create a clone of Wolverine. On her 23rd attempt, Dr. Kinney created a viable female twin. And by the age of ten, X-23 was an emotionless assassin for hire. With the help of her creator and mother, Dr. Kinney, X-23 escaped the Facility.. but she would do so alone. X-23, now calling herself Laura Kinney, located Wolverine, who convinced her to enter the Xavier Institute. Now X-23 uses her deadly skills to safeguard mutantkind, while searching for her own humanity.
