Yeah, you’re definitely right although that’s only on Earth 2! So in the main universe there hasn’t been (iirc, we had a list of the Robins early and they listed them as Dick-Damian w/ no mention of Steph or anything). Like, Helena’s never fought as Robin in whatever ~earth~ the current DCU continuity exists in, no?
So yes while in the overall 52 universe we’ve had a female Robin, she was only on Earth two and we only saw her as Robin briefly (just the first issue of World’s Finest, mostly? And the first issue of Earth Two?)
Still should have specified, though, I suppose!
Omg it’s not a stupid question at all! And it’s one I’m more than happy to answer b/c Bucky/Nat is the best and everyone should know where to look!
My first suggestion would be just to read Cap v5 (Brubaker’s run, which starts with issue #1, goes through #50, then renumbers at #600— b/c they want to make it really complicated I guess!) which is really good if you’re interested in Bucky? Plus, The Winter Soldier arc is really good (as is the Death of Cap arc) and they’re all there pre-Bucky/Nat shenanigans.
But if you’re just looking for Bucky/Nat, then start with #27, which is where Bru begins to establish the history between the two. From there I would continue to read the whole arc because on the whole I enjoy Bru’s run? But for particular issues, FYBN has a really nice list here.
I’d also read Marjorie Liu’s Black Widow run? “The Name of the Rose”. It’s from Nat’s perspective, which is nice esp. if you end up reading the Captain America stuff. Also it’s just a really good run, for Nat on her own as well as Bucky/Nat. Plus it’s only five issues, so not too big of a commitment there.
Captain America: Reborn has some moments with the two (fighting together, being cute), but nothing really substantial? If you’re going to skip any of their stuff together, I’d skip this tbh.
My go to faves for one offs are Who Will Wield the Shield? and Fear Itself #7.1 (technically a lead into WS but w/e). They both have really cute scenes between the two of them.
And one that I would say that you absolutely without a doubt MUST read for Bucky/Nat is Captain America and Bucky #624, which focuses pretty much entirely on their relationship. And just like w/ Captain America I’d suggest reading the entirety of Cap & Bucky, if you’re at all interested in Bucky Barnes. It’s really good and gives a nice overview, I think!
And that brings you to Winter Soldier! Which has some of my favorite moments (the bed scene in the first issue is! Exceptionally good), but seems destined for tragedy of late. Still worth a read tho, I’d say!
For other comics? It depends on what you want to read! IE, teams books vs. solo titles, indie vs. Big 2, completed or ongoing, teen books vs. nonteen books. But for a basic overview, books I love and think everyone should read (b/c they’re great) from Marvel & DC are…
But I read… a lot of comics each month (both Marvel and DC with a smattering of creator owned stuff), and have done a lot of backreading in certain cases, so if you want me to rec you anything in particular (esp for characters that I know! I.e. I probably couldn’t point you to the best comics about Tony Stark), just lemme know!
Well, I mean, I know a number of people on here that have been unhappy with his whole run, and this ending is sort of just icing on the cake. But I also know of people that love it (Scott Snyder’s a fan, and he’s usually got decent taste?)
But, yeah, if you want to talk in context I can’t really talk about Slott’s run overall and how this ending relates to it, I can just say that I like Peter and the idea of this being his ending (for now) is upsetting.
I mean, I’m probably not the person to ask this b/c while I quite like Peter Parker (and a lot of other Spider-Man characters), I’m not a webhead by any stretch. So it’s not as upsetting to me personally as if, say, the same thing happened to Matt Murdock or w/e.
Even so, I think it’s p. fucked up. The idea of Doc Ock being with MJ, as they’ve implied, in Peter’s body is all sorts of fucked up on its own. And something I will be really grossed out by if it occurs.
Plus the interviews that the team has given wrt this plot twist have been outwardly hostile to the fans of Peter Parker in a way that I think is pretty fucking dickish. (I don’t mean interviews about the leak, but rather the one w/ Newsarama was it? That was like ~fans will just go by the wayside it happens ppl will forget eventually~)
I mean, clearly this won’t last (no matter what they say), but still. I don’t like it.
I like Peter Parker as Spider-Man, and I’d like him to stay as such in the 616. But, I mean, I think it would be something if they went a la the Ultimates verse—passing the title onto someone similarly heroic (that also diversifies Marvel’s line up) rather than… Doc Ock.
You know?
I think that the concern would be that Dustin Hoffman would die of old age in that sandwich more than u dying bb.
Dustin Hoffman, Julia?

Rly?
This is probably the best message I’ve gotten in my inbox if not ever then in a very long time.
